Silk bolster covers

In order to protect your pillows, but also because it is in direct contact with your skin, it is important to choose a good pillowcase. And what's more, for restful sleep, there is no equivalent to the comfort and benefits of a noble and natural material such as silk.

Why choose a silk pillowcase?

1. Healthy sleep

Silk has exceptional properties unmatched by other fibers. It is naturally healthy: hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial and anti-mite. Silk is also thermoregulatory. This way, it adapts to your body temperature. Warm in winter and cool in summer, it remains comfortable whatever the season. And because it absorbs moisture, it reduces sweating and improves sleep.

2. A real beauty treatment

Silk reduces sleep creases and marks. Your face slides onto your pillowcase, letting your skin rest gently on your pillow. In addition, silk preserves hydration, your silk pillowcase helps you limit irritation and imperfections. As for your hair, it will be pampered while you sleep: no more brittle, tangled or electric hair. Finally, as it absorbs little creams and beauty products, the silk pillowcase helps you fully benefit from the benefits of your facial and hair care products.

3. One care simple

Simply wash your silk pillowcase at 30°C, delicate laundry program, preferably in a laundry net. You can iron it directly after taking it out of the machine. Slightly damp, the pillowcase will smooth out even more easily. If you have the option of using a steam iron, even better.

How to choose your silk pillowcase?

1. What momme of silk to choose?

There are different weights of silk pillowcases, expressed in mommes. This unit of measurement defines the density of silk. The higher this number, the better the silk and the tighter and thicker the fabric. - silk pillowcases 19 mommes and cotton (the most economical)

- silk pillowcases 19 mommes, Prestige Collection,

- silk pillowcases 22 mommes, Excellence Collection,

- silk pillowcases 25 mommes, Quintessence Collection,

At the entry level, you will find the most common weight: the silk pillowcase 19 mommes. Don't be fooled by its low price because it is of impeccable quality. Its infinite softness, its beautiful lustrous appearance and its resistance make it the silk pillowcase most requested by our customers. The 22 mommes as for it, is the perfect compromise for a superior quality silk pillowcase at a reasonable price. Softer and more durable, the difference is palpable.

The silk pillowcase 25 mommes will appeal to the most demanding sleepers. Its incomparable feel and durability will ensure you have a great night's sleep.

It is the softest, lustiest, strongest and most beautiful of all silk pillowcases in existence.Maison de la Soie is one of the few brands to offer silk pillowcases 30 mommes. Yes, we offer an exclusive collection of printed silk pillowcases, designed for those who want to enjoy the benefits of silk while bringing an original decorative touch to their bedroom. Whether you are attracted by the character of the leopard pattern, the poetry of the constellations or the refinement of marble, you will find the same qualities that make our silk pillowcases successful: exceptional softness, respect for the skin and hair, thermal comfort and everyday elegance.

Does the silk pillowcase shrink in the wash?

Fabric shrinkage depends on the weave used (tighter or looser weave) and how the fabric is cared for. However, silk is less likely to shrink than other fabrics. If you follow our care recommendations, you'll have no worries. Avoid hot water, tumble dryers and even the sun!

Can the silk pillowcase be washed?

Of course you can! In fact, as with any other textile purchase, we recommend that you wash your pillowcase and bed linen before using them for the first time. The advantage of silk pillowcases is that they need to be washed less frequently than cotton pillowcases. As silk is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-mite, a silk pillowcase stays clean longer.

Do the pillowcases Maison de la Soie made of natural silk?

Our pillowcases are made from 100% pure mulberry silk. Unlike some websites and marketplaces, we don't add any other materials to keep costs down. So you get the full benefit of silk's unique properties.

What is the best silk for a pillowcase?

Mulberry silk is the finest quality of silk. Soft, lustrous and strong, it surpasses wild silk. And, unlike wild silk, the Bombyx Mori silkworm feeds exclusively on mulberry leaves. As a result, the original color of mulberry silk is light, close to white. This has the advantage of facilitating natural dyeing and limiting the use of chemicals.

What momme to choose?

Our silk pillowcases are available in 19, 22 and 25. mommes. This Japanese unit of measurement determines the quality of the fabric. The higher the number, the softer, shinier, thicker and more resistant the silk. But whichever pillowcase you choose, you'll enjoy the benefits of this exceptional material. Note that the differences between pillowcases are clearly visible in the feel and sheen of the silk.

Why is a silk pillowcase good for the skin?

Mulberry silk is naturally hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial and anti-mite. It is therefore more hygienic for the skin than any other material. What's more, silk pillowcases keep the skin hydrated and absorb few face creams. This reduces wrinkles and skin problems such as acne and eczema.

What type of pillowcase for hair?

For beautiful hair, sleep with a mulberry silk pillowcase. Silk reduces knots, frizz and static electricity. Your hair won't be roughed up while you sleep, and you won't feel like you're waking up with your hair in a tangle. Be careful not to fall into the satin trap. Even if you can find beautiful cotton satin pillowcases, you won't get the same benefits as with silk. For example, cotton, unlike silk, doesn't have the ability to keep hair moisturized.

How do I wash a pillowcase by hand?

You can machine-wash your pillowcase, but if you prefer to wash it by hand, here are a few tips. First, make sure your washing water is not too hot. Then use a suitable detergent, such as Tenestar which has been specially formulated for silk. Avoid rubbing the fabric, as this can damage the fiber. Wring out your pillowcase gently, without wringing it, and wrap it in a cotton towel to absorb any excess water. Finally, dry your pillowcase flat if possible, and always away from direct sunlight.

How do I iron a silk pillowcase?

We recommend that you iron your silk pillowcase when it comes out of the machine and is slightly damp. This facilitates staining and completes the drying process. In this way, your pillowcase is ready for use again.

Why not dry your silk pillowcase in the sun?

Silk doesn't like to be overexposed. Heat and sunlight shrink, discolor and damage the fabric.

Can I soak my silk pillowcase?

We don't recommend soaking your silk pillowcase for more than 5 minutes, as the fiber may become waterlogged and lose all its benefits.

Do you make custom silk pillowcases?

We can make custom silk pillowcases. Please request a quote using the contact form. Please specify the desired color, size, and whether you’d like a ruffled or non-ruffled finish.
